It’s been over 75 years since the start of Madeline. Now there are cartoons, shows, books, and toys dedicated. The art style of the cartoon show has changed a little bit over the years but they still have a unique style.
Most importantly, there are a few lessons I learned from this show. The most important lesson lies within the main character. It’s that it’s important to face your fears so that others can look up to you. Not only does the author set up an interesting setting in France, he introduces empowerment through the plot.
I encountered ‘Madeline’ on a VHS Cassette when I was very young. Back then, I didn’t have anything else to watch so I replayed the cassette over a hundred times. As I look back, the art style of the cartoon strike me and the way that France is drawn makes it visually appealing. Especially the iconic Eiffel Tower.
Did you watch this show when you were growing up? What other shows had messages of empowerment and bravery? Feel free to let me know.
Yes! I watched this as a child, but I can only remember the theme tune now. And that the setting made me want to learn to speak French.

I remember the book and I believe there was a live movie version too. Have you seen it? I only saw half when it played on TV.
