I was inspired by the political messages shown in Panel Kuczynski’s satirical pieces so I decided to create my own satirical drawing following his artistic style.
The first thing that came to my mind was Wolf of Wall Street and it gave me a chance to tie in a political message. So I chose to go with Hillary Clinton and her obsession with donors because we all know by now that she has received millions of dollars from private donors. It’s a sad reality in the United States to be entitled to votes and big money at the same time.
The hardest thing about this project was trying to create a smooth transition with the coloured pencils. On the other hand, the best part of this project was to use watercolour to create a balanced background with the yellow and orange. If it weren’t for the background, the drawing wouldn’t be as smooth as it is with the watercolour wash.

Interestingly, my art teacher and I decided to put the drawing in one of the administrator’s room in the office as a decoration. Unfortunately, it was removed when the administrator saw the drawing because it apparently, “Jumped out at her.” Maybe it was too scary or intimidating but I know for a fact that it was provocative and created a sense of fear for viewers that came across it.
My purpose as an artist is to create a piece that is visually appealing but also provocative, scary, and important. Artists such as Kuczynski have already been doing this and he has won numerous awards for his outstanding work. I want to thank him for inspiring me to work on this project and I hope Kuczynski can continue to inspire other artists.
