Becoming a successful politician not only takes skill but also aesthetic perfection.
Our perception of politicians depends heavily on looks. Once you gravitate towards a certain candidate, you try to justify their looks or you adapt to accept them. For example, I have had a Trump supporter tell me that Trump was a handsome looking man. Personally, I don’t mind how Trump looks and don’t really get the notion of his ugly hair but on the other hand, I also don’t get the notion of him being handsome. Therefore, I just think he looks like a normal person with favourable traits such as confidence and boldness.
Sometimes, ‘looks’ are underestimated and sometimes they’re overrated but they will always impact your perception.
Just look at Justin Trudeau.
I don’t wanna sound shallow, but who thinks Trump is handsome?? Just the faces he makes….

He’s pretty powerful. Powerful enough to seduce some voters and that’s kind of scary. Or in your case, powerful enough to scare you away.

That I can agree with. Handsome no, powerful and aggressive yes.
