There’s a sense of freedom associated with pumping gas without having to pay first. However, as incidents of gas theft increase, does there need to be a change in law? This applies to the states or provinces where you can pump your own gas before paying.
I’m not too certain about the laws in different states but here in Canada, some provinces have changed their stations into “pay-before-you-pump” gas stations. Other provinces still haven’t made the change. They probably should but it might cost a little to change some machines and procedures.
How long will it take to create some change? Is your state or province promoting safety for customers and workers at gas stations? Let me know.
We have to pay first here in the UK. Although in France we have experienced the pump first: it always seems so odd!

Vice versa here, it feels different to pay first. Things will change and we will get used to it.
