O*(G+V+(w*.1)+(A*2.0)+S+V(1.5)) Language Difficulty Formula?

Most of us only know a couple of languages. We often question how hard a language is to learn before we start learning it. It’s also hard to take a survey on a language because there are so many factors and at the end of the day, only a correlation is made.

So what does  O*(G+V+(w*.1)+(A*2.0)+S+V(1.5)) mean? It just looks like another boring and useless math formula. Well, let’s take a look at what each of these letters mean.

O= Openness of the society to communicate in their own language to a foreigner as opposed to English.

G = Grammar

V= Verbs conjugation complexity

P= Pronunciation & phonology.

W=Complexity of transcripts.

A=Average number of syllables in each word.

S=Speed of language.

V=Vocalness of the people speaking.

That’s a lot of factors to take into consideration if you ask me. That is why there is a job for it. So appreciate the language you speak and maybe try learning a different language.
