It was originally called Armistice Day to memorialize the armistice agreement that ended the WWI. The first Remembrance Day was held on November 11, 1931. Also, more than 1,500,000 Canadians risked their lives to serve our country and more than 118,000 sacrificed their lives along the way. I am deeply and profoundly grateful that there are troops willing to risk their lives to support our well-being and freedom. May we remember those who committed their lives to an important cause.
